So, it is officially Ash Wednesday.

As some of you know, I’m a big fan of lent. I’m not Catholic, but I’ve been doing lent for 5 or so years now.

In the past, lent has been a chance for me to exercise my self control.

Not this year.

This year I’m doing it right. This year I’m relinquishing all control. I’m giving it to God. I have some difficult things ahead of me for the next 40 days, things that I know I can’t do. But all things are possible through Christ who strengthens me. I’m doing some things alone, some things with other people, but in all I will have that mentality.

This isn’t about self control. This is about recognizing that I have no control.
