I had to quit my workout because I felt like I was...
So I laid down for a while and started feeling better, so I ate a snack, and now I feel like throwing up again. Just great. I do not need this right now.
Chocolate chips and dry cereal make me happy.
This made me rather angry.
On Sunday, one of the women from our church told my mom that she thinks our entire family is “just too thin”, my brother and I “look scary”, and demanded to know when my mom planned to stop losing weight. My mom calmly replied,”Well Sandy, if you must know, my goal is to lose another 20 pounds.” and the woman said,”Well where do you think you’re...
You know what's amazing about life?
You get through everything. Little things and big things, good things and bad things. That test that made you sick with nervousness? That was 8 months ago. That long run you didn’t want to haul your ass out of bed for? You’ve done 10 more since then. Time just keeps ticking, and eventually you’ll be on the other side of this.
12 minutes into my ice bath...
Legs? What legs? If I have those I’m certainly not aware of them.
I need an ice bath.
My legs feel like water balloons filled with lactic acid. I may stop and buy a huge bag of ice after practice and put myself through 20 minutes of hell tonight.
So I was reading online a bit about when female...
And the general consensus seems to be 27-31. I’ll be 27 for the 2020 olympics and 31 for 2024… Just a little something to think about.
Just scrimmaged 7 WVU women and 4 men
Lost 5-2, pretty respectable and super fun. Now we have a team dinner at 5, then we’re watching the film of our game and then watching the US men’s national team at 9. Then training tomorrow at 11, team lunch, and another scrimmage at 4. I need some sleep
Home, finally - a post I've been typing off and on...
I’m not sure I’ve ever been this exhausted in my life. I’m also not sure how to write about work camp. It was seriously one of the best weeks of my entire life. So I’ll just hit some highlights, bullet-style. Sunday - Get to OVU, unpack, see lots of people that I love a lot and don’t get to see often enough. Meet our crew, which is me and my friends Faith and Katie,...
My boyfriend and I accidentally had on matching...
Race t-shirts and baggy jeans cuffed at the bottom. Wow.
I just went running for 35 minutes, just to run.
Not for pace, or distance, or intensity. No timed intervals. And I have to say, it felt kind of nice.
A little red haired boy just ran up to me and...
Day has been made.
10 points for OVU
For being on one of the highest points in Wood County, every run has to end with a long uphill. I just went for a quick 21 minute run and it killed me. Love thisss.
Camp is amazing.
Although in the words of my crew mate Aaron, I’ve never felt so obligated to eat so many popsicles in my life.
Back from a 3.5 mile run with Jacob before my...
Starting the week off right :) and it was an adventure, we got a little lost and had to go XC a bit. Hence the extra .5.
Today I leave for work camp.
Which means I won’t be posting much, if at all, until Friday. It also means I won’t be running much, if at all, until Friday, and I’m really not looking forward to that. Jacob is going to be there Monday and Thursday so we may wake up super early and run together on those days, which would be fantastic. But anyway, I hope you all have a fabulousss week, I know I’m planning...
So I was actually the 3rd woman today, and first...
Apparently the two Kenyans my mom thought were women were actually men. Oh how I love her. So yeah, I won a trophy, and some prize money that I couldn’t accept. I love running.
42:02, 5th woman :)
I believe. I’m just taking my mom’s word for it until I see the official results. I’m happy, I got beat by two Kenyans and two Americans. And my dad finished in 57:30 :)
I'm so antsyyy.
I hardly slept last night, I feel full of energy though. I’m just ready to start warming up. 67 minutes until race time.
11 hours until race time!
Overnight oats are in the fridge, 3 layers of clothes are laid out, my bib is ready to go. Goodnight!
6.3 miles in 44:35
And a negative split to boot :) Confession time, I got all set to run this 10k on Saturday and realized I’ve never run that far all in one go before. Seriously. I get too bored usually. So I decided to go for it today just so I’d have an idea of what kind of goals to set. So my goal is to beat that time and finish with a negative split. My dad and I are jogging the course once...
I have a hot date tomorrow night.
And by ‘hot date’, I mean we’re going to make hummus and watch True Grit.
I might run a 10k on Saturday.
My friend Jacob just told me I should, because he’s doing it. And I kind of want to.
My mom is always right.
And I have officially given her permission to say “I told you so”. About a week ago she told me she didn’t think I was eating enough to support my activity since I’d started my summer soccer workouts and lifting, and she wanted me to add an extra 100 calories at breakfast. I told her I thought I was fine but since I love food and I love breakfast I’d do it. And on...
We're halfway through the month of June.
I should not be wearing tights and long sleeves to go running. There’s only about a 3 month period of the year where I can expect to be warm all the time, and this weather is screwing that up. Heat, please come back.
I just sprinted for 8 minutes, why am I not tired?
I’m so confused. I jogged/walked to the very top of my hill, and then ran as fast as I could all the way back down, hoping to work out some quad pain. I expected to be tired though, and instead I’m barely sweating and not breathing hard at all. Weird.
Naked sun salutations are the best way to start...
Ruby Tuesday did not know what they were getting...
The last game was scrappy, but we pulled it out. Eating a massive salad now, then an 8 hour drive home.
I'm ready to win.
One thing that playing for this team has done for me: I am never content with losing anymore. I’ve played for teams in the past that just couldn’t really compete, and giving your all and having a solid performance was enough, but not anymore. If we don’t win, we didn’t play our best. So today, it’s time to go show New Jersey who’s boss.
3-0 and 3-2. We ended up with 3 subs, and I still started 3 of the 4 halves. Need to win two tomorrow and we’re heading home as champions.
Games at 12:40 and 3:00 today and tomorrow. We only have 12 players, which means lots of playing time. Which means lots to be nervous about.
On my way to New Jersey with my parents, having...
I love this family.
Things I like: Coconuts > almonds > soy beans > cows Milks I like: Almond > soy > cow > coconut This post has been brought to you by the fact that I’m tremendously disappointed in unsweetened coconut milk.
I am rather exhausted.
So I’m going to go to bed. Then tomorrow I’m going to wake up, eat breakfast, do my soccer workout, and then go to practice later. The next day I will wake up, eat breakfast, do my soccer workout, run, and lift. The next day I will wake up, eat breakfast, do my soccer workout, travel to New Jersey. The next day I will play two soccer games. The next day I will play two soccer games...
So my plan today was to do a nice long slow run.
And my plan was foiled by two angry black labs. So what was supposed to be 45-60 minutes ended up only being 35, because I had to prematurely turn around. I was not a happy camper. But then my mom and I made African chickpea and sweet potato stew, which was unbelievably fantastic, and I was a happy camper again.
This week is going to be insane.
I don’t know where to fit running in with all this soccer. I had practice today (stayed after and ran some 200s), I have practice tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday, plus I need to do my workout everyday, then I leave Friday for New Jersey for a tournament. I don’t want to overtrain the week before a tournament, but the 19th-24th I’m going to be at a camp where I likely won’t...
Also, this is random...
But I’m laying in bed right now (typing from my phone), and my room is full of lightning bugs. It’s kind of awesome.
I miss you.
All of you, because you’re the best followers in the world and haven’t abandoned me in my computer-less absence.
