Sometimes I have days where all I want to eat is...
Today is one of those days.
Unfortunately, eating nothing but fruit cannot sustain me, and I’m having to tell my cravings to suck it up.

I've had over 120 grams of protein today.
I’d definitely say today was a successful rest day. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll feel strong and ready to conquer air alert and then soccer practice.

Healthy cheesecake?
That seems like an oxymoron, but I think I just made it happen (kind of).
I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but I love cheesecake. It’s absolutely my favourite dessert, and I might even go so far to say that it’s my favourite food. Unfortunately, your average slice of restaurant cheesecake has roughly 800 calories, sometimes as many as 1300. So I haven’t had...
In a shocking development
I’ve lost an inch on both of my thighs. My right is now 18” and my left is 17.5”. Which is crazy, because they seem bigger, but I guess it’s only the lower part of them that’s gotten bigger (and unfortunately I’ve only ever measured the top).

My calves feel like they're being stabbed every...
Tomorrow will be a rest day (at least for my lower body), and I will savor every moment of it.
But for now… Week 15 day 2, commence!
Updated my progress blog.
My weight is down a bit. Give it a look and leave feedback? :)
I eat cinnamon like it's my job.
For breakfast, I just had a bowl of oatmeal, covered in a cinnamon, 1/2 cup plain yogurt and 1/2 cup pureed pumpkin, doused in cinnamon and nutmeg, and a cup of coffee with cinnamon.
That was probably excessive. But I freaking love cinnamon.
My brother and I just hiked to the top of the hill...
Yes it’s past 11pm. Yes it’s 28 degrees. No we do not care.
We walked to the top and then sat and looked at the sky for a while, and then walked back down. Solid way to spend 30 minutes. I’m going to miss Jake so much when we both move out this fall.

Week 15, day 1 = Complete.
I didn’t cry, puke, or die, and honestly, I never even wanted to. It’s amazing how much stronger I’ve gotten lately.
Then I had a lovely recovery/reward lunch - pasta frittata. I may post the recipe with some pictures later, because it was seriously awesome.
It's time for air alert.
Not going to lie, I’m completely dreading this week. But when I want to cry/throw up/die, I’m just going to remind myself of what this is doing for my speed, agility, and strength, and tough it out. Also, right now I’m going to think of the pasta frittata I get to eat for lunch as soon as I’m done.
Oh, and the good news is that I’m only slightly sore today, so it...
I love mornings.
I woke up well before my alarm went off, because my body is so conditioned to getting the same amount of sleep every night that I automatically wake up earlier when I go to bed earlier (and also because my parents were laughing so hard downstairs that falling back to sleep would have been impossible. Waking up to laughter is nice though), went through a couple of sun salutations, made this recipe...
Okay, I'm going to bed and it's not even 10:30.
I’m exhausted, and week 15 of air alert starts tomorrow. Which is going to feel like hell, because I’m probably going to wake up sore.
So now I’m going to go get roughly 10 hours of sleep. Goodnight all <3
(Oh and if you want to help me out, I can’t decide what to eat for breakfast tomorrow. There are so many wonderful options in the world of breakfast foods. Leave me...
clarabelle91 asked: Hey Carly,
I was just wondering what you hang off when doing hanging knee raises? Also, was wondering if could I have your profgres blog password?
I should also let you know that (like most people here) you've motivated me to commit to a healthy weight loss/toning up regime, I've never needed to lose much weight but I just wanted to feel confident in everything in...

Home, finally.
We drew 2-2 today. Major bummer, because I REALLY wanted to win that game, because it was against my old team. We completely dominated, and got tons of chances, but we just couldn’t put it away. I played the entire game, but unfortunately I had to play defense because our right back got hurt yesterday and couldn’t play today.
Then my mom and I went shopping, and I got these guys:
...
So just out of curiosity
I went to http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc, and checked how many calories I burned playing competitive soccer for 110 minutes (roughly my total playing time today), and damn! 860! Plus another 60 or so from stretching on the sidelines. That is a lot. I’d probably drive myself crazy if I tried to track my calories burned, because now I’m a little freaked out that maybe I...
And won the second game 5-0.
Started both halves, and played the majority of the game. I’m going to dinner with the team tonight and I’m actually excited, my teammates are much nicer to me when I play well. Hope you all are having a lovely weekend :)
Won our first game 10-0.
I didn’t start the first half, but I started the second half and played the entire half. Our assistant coach is coaching us this weekend, and she told me I played awesome. I’m in a good mood :) one more game today.
And this is why I'm dating him.
Me: What's up?
Jordan: Writing a description of a broken upright skeleton.
Me: That is not something most people do on a regular basis.
Jordan: Yeah well. I'm hoping my description makes it sound bad enough that they'll just give it to me. I really want this thing.
So tomorrow is going to be tough.
I’m planning on taking a rest day, but I’m going to be home alll day. And I’m planning to stay off of the computer as much as possible (since it’s Friday - I’m not being super rigid about my media fast tomorrow though since I won’t have internet Saturday or Sunday), so it is going to take some serious self control to not work out.
So these are the things...
My plans for today.
This weather screwed my plans for a long run. Yesterday it was 71, today it is snowing. Of course. So I’m now going to:
Eat a snack (peanut butter and strawberries in a whole wheat pita?)
Do air alert (last day of week 14, one week left!)
Do an ab workout
Possibly do some upper body resistance
Do my 24 minute basement cardio intervals workout: 2 minutes rebounder, 2 minutes jump rope, 2...

hahadanny asked: ok so I want to start running outside before school (that´s like at 6am every morning) the problem is that where I live there are like only hills and I can only run in circles like up and down the hill, so I was wondering if I running in hills is a good cardio??
and the days that I can´t run outside (you know because of school)
is it good if I use the elliptical for like...

I'm in a really good mood
Because I just worked out and then ate chocolate banana oatmeal and it’s 71 degrees outside. And my dad asked me to go get the mail, so I did, and I danced all the way down the driveway, then did a cartwheel, then as I was dancing my way back I realized that my neighbour was outside doing yard work and probably saw the whole thing. I just smiled and waved.

My overnight oats were a success.
I’ve been wanting to try some for a while but I always forget, so last night I made a point to actually make some. I looked at a few recipes and they were all slightly different but basically the same, so I made up my own based on what I had and what I like. So I used 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1/4 cup vanilla soymilk, 1/4 cup blueberries, and 1/4...

3/21/11 intake
Breakfast: Whole wheat protein pancakes, with half of a banana cut up and put in the batter and half sliced on top.
Snack: Kashi good friends cereal, sliced strawberries, skim milk.
Lunch: Asparagus, green and red peppers, onions, spinach, and tuna stir fry.
Snack: Apple, some raisins.
Dinner: Venison lettuce wraps (we eat those so often…), with venison, homemade peanut sauce, peppers,...
Today was rainy and relaxed.
Tomorrow, I’m going hard with everything. Air alert, resistance, speed work. Wednesday, I’m backing off a bit again. Thursday will be a nice long run. Friday will be rest. Saturday and Sunday will be two soccer games each.
This is what it looks like when I attempt to recover from a tournament and a prepare for a tournament at the same time.
clurburrrr asked: what are the best things to eat/drink/do after a run? :)

Champions :)
We won 1-0. Today was much better than yesterday. All total, we beat two NJ teams, a MD team, and a PA team. I love representin’ WV well.
Won the first game 4-2.
I assisted the second goal and scored the last one :) championship at 2:40.
Crashing so hard now.
Tomorrow will be better. You know why? Because I refuse to be a victim. I refuse to let poor circumstances manipulate my emotional well being. I don’t care if I play 2 minutes or 90 minutes tomorrow, I will only be showing my best. But that’s not for my coach, or for my teammates. It’s for me. When I was a chubby 10 year old I started playing soccer because it made me happy. I...
Today was exhausting.
Emotionally, not physically. Without going into details - I didn’t get to play much, got yelled at a lot, and cried my eyes out in the car between games.
But hey, we won both games! 2-1 and 1-0. Then my parents and I went to Trader Joe’s and bought tons of wonderful food to bring back to the hotel and cook for dinner. I had polenta provencale, whole wheat pita with masala lentil...
So nervous.
First game at 1:20, second at 5:10.
Very good day.
After I ran and showered, I helped my mom make dinner, and while we were cooking my boyfriend showed up, which was awesome and unexpected, then we all ate together, then Jordan and I went back to his house and listened to all of these random prog rock bands from the late 60s that I’d never heard of. I like nights like tonight - good food, good music, lots of cuddling.
Now I have to pack for...

5 miles in 37:35
I’m not disappointed. It was a LOT of hills, I had to walk twice to avoid getting eaten by dogs, and the majority of it was gravel/dirt/mud which is not so easy on the calves. I feel good :)
And also, I love where I live. 3/4 mile into my run, I ran past a woman and her kids playing in their yard, and she said,”Can I ask you a question?” so I said sure and stopped and she asked...

My body.
I’m muscular.
I have defined soccer thighs. Disproportionately big calves from hours of plyometrics. Six pack abs. Toned arms that can do lots of pushups. And all of that is great. I’m a better athlete now than I’ve ever been in my life. I can run faster, jump higher, I don’t get pushed around on the soccer field.
I’m also bony.
My hipbones are sharp. My chest is...
What my mom and I bought at the grocery store...
Apples Oranges Grapefruit Brown rice Mango Spinach Lettuce Protein bars 0 calorie Sobe Lifewater (I like this for soccer because it has carbs but it isn’t pure sugar) Bananas Egg whites Chobani greek yogurt Red cabbage Cucumbers
We buy a ridiculous amount of produce. The purpose of this trip was to get a few things we were out of, and things for me to eat this weekend, and we came out with...

I just found out that I play my old club team next...
Haha, I’m super excited for this. My best friend Maggie still plays for them, and a few of my other old teammates that used to be like my sisters, and Florin is still the coach. I feel like Florin partially raised me, since he coached me from the ages of 12-16. I love that club.
That being said though, I hope we crush them.

Practice tonight was great.
I don’t really even know why. I just felt amazing afterwards. And I’m so excited to run tomorrow. I think I’m going to do 5 miles, then come back and do some resistance, then do some speed work (hill repeats <3). I’m not doing challenge Friday, because I’m resting on Friday in preparation for the weekend, so I’ll be pushing myself extra hard tomorrow.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 64 degrees and partly...
AKA perfect weather to try out the new 5 mile loop I discovered. I’m pleased.
Soccer practice tonight, going hard tomorrow (5 mile run, abs, maybe some upper body resistance), rest/travel/eat Friday, 2 games Saturday (first full field outdoor tournament this year!), and at least one (hopefully 2) game on Sunday. I’m pretty excited for the next few days.

I just had the best idea ever!
I’ll need to get my dad and brother in on it since I have pretty much no money, but my mom is always saying that I should write a cookbook, and it’s almost mother’s day, so I think I’m going to start taking pretty pictures of everything I cook, and compile all of my best healthy recipes into a cookbook to give to her. That way, when I move out in August, she’ll still...
