2/28/11 intake, and the health benefits of...
I figured it might be fun/interesting to research the health benefits of everything I ate today. Turns out it’s just time consuming, but hey, now I know, very specifically.
9:15am: One egg and 6 tbsps egg whites, scrambled and put on a piece of whole wheat toast. My small mountain of supplements and a cup of green tea. Eggs help prevent breast cancer, heart disease, stroke, and help promote...
"I don't trust fat doctors."
My mom is pretty awesome.
(And she’s also down 24 pounds now. She bought a coat last Sunday that she couldn’t button, and today she buttoned it right up. NCV!)
Still basically no internet, still being massively...
By the time my dad got home at 4, I had already done air alert, an ab workout, run 3 miles, did some foot skills work, hula hooped, cleaned the kitchen, read a fair chunk of The Reason For God by Timothy Keller (which I highly recommend for any skeptics), had a 45 minute theological discussion/debate with my brother, and eaten four times. That’s impressive, if I may say so myself. Hopefully...
February 2011
So I just finished breakfast and I've already had...
And that’s all you’re supposed to drink in a day? Crazy talk.

New daily schedule.
I’m starting tomorrow, since my internet is still basically non-existent. It’ll be easier to get used to this without any distraction. Anyway, soccer is moving outside as soon as the fields open, so it’s time to up the intensity of everything I do. We have a little less than 3 weeks until our first tournament.
9:00am: Wake up.
9:15am: Breakfast.
Do whatever I want/need for a...
Sky High by Wiz Khalifa is my new power song.
Yeah they talk, but I can’t hear what they say, ‘cause I’m flying. Swear they see me but I’m too many miles away, ‘cause I’m flying.
Very limited internet = very productive day.
Got my room/bathroom clean, which I’ve been putting off for a while. Now I’m heading to PA for two soccer games :)
This oatmeal is heavenly.
Yay for soccer days when I can let myself eat carbs for breakfast!
So yesterday was fantastic. I did everything I said I was going to do, except ice my knees. Because if I’m being honest, I think these bruises look really awesome, and I hate icing injuries so unless I legitimately need it, I’m not going to. But other than that, I…
Slept until 9:50.
Watched Manchester United...
So for the past few weeks, my internet has been...
And that’s part of the reason I haven’t been answering questions, because I keep typing out long answers and then they don’t post because my internet cuts out. It’s so insanely frustrating. So my dad called our internet provider today and apparently our modem is bad, so they’re sending us a new one. So I should have non-sketchy internet soon, and be able to answer...
skindeepx-deactivated20110529 asked: what are some foods you eat to keep hunger away between meals?
Tomorrow is a rest day. Tomorrow is going to be...
I will sleep in, ice my bruised knees, dress cute, see my wonderful boyfriend for the first time in 11 days (and he said he has gifts for me), and overall just have a very good day. I’ve already decided this.
absolutebrightness-deactivated2 asked: I've heard that doing sit-ups does not help with achieving a flat stomach, do you think this is true?
fightingtobestrong-deactivated2 asked: Do blended bananas taste good? Do you just blend the banana? I know people who like to add milk/or water?
Okay, I love OVU.
Like a lot a lot. Today I…
Got my major fairly figured out (interdisciplinary studies, combining wellness and biology)
Talked to the head of the honors program, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to do that. I was concerned that it would be more work, but he said that it’s really just different work, and everything he said about it sounded perfect for me.
Got to spend a lot...
College practice down, and I'm done in time to...
Today was really really great.
allaknowsbest asked: Since your stomach is so flat, when you eat, does it get bigger? Like food baby? Haha.
Oh my.
The reality just hit me that I’m training with a college team tomorrow. Nervoussaywhattt. I won’t be on much tomorrow until late. I’m getting up at 8, eating a solid breakfast, leaving at 9. Appointment with the head of the wellness department at 11:30 to talk about academic stuff, eating lunch with the soccer coach afterwards. Then I have some time to kill, probably just kicking...
I want to do this.

I should make Caleb do it with me since he’s majoring in exercise phys at WVU, and we’re always talking about racing each other…
lizalikeseggz asked: your blog has really inspired me to keep myself in shape! congrats on your awesome progress and belated happy birthday.
so now to my question, how has air alert worked for you? i've read a lot of mixed reviews on it, and I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it. Has it increased your vertical at all? any thoughts are helpful! thanks for your inspiration and keep up the great work!

My mental toughness experiment was a definite...
So in my hour long meeting with the Messiah coach on Monday, he said approximately one million things that inspired/motivated me. This man is quality. Anyway, one of the things he said was about mental toughness. He was talking about the “challenge Fridays” that his team does in the off season, where he gives them a fitness challenge and just sees how long they can do it. Last week it...
Going to go do air alert.
And a little mental toughness exercise. We’ll see how this goes. Here’s hoping I don’t cry/die.

Things I love Thursday:
This is kind of broad, but I love how athletic my body suddenly is. I mean, it’s not really sudden considering I’ve been working my ass off for 5 months, but yesterday I was doing situps hanging upside down from my ladder, and I took a picture (see above) and I was pretty thoroughly amazed. That’s my body. My body that used to always just be vaguely “soft”, no...
And a NSV as well
My abs are sore! I’m so excited. This is like, my favourite feeling in the world, and I don’t even remember the last time I was able to make my abs sore. I can’t take all the credit though, I think what did it was the ab workout we did at practice. I won’t lie, it was tough, and combined with the killer ab workout I did at home earlier in the day, my abs are sore from top...
NCV
(NCV stands for non-Carly victory, meaning this victory is not mine but I’m excited nonetheless)
My mom has lost 20 pounds! I’m so happy for her, and you can see it SO much. She’s 1/4 of the way to her final goal. She’s amazing, she hasn’t even cheated once since she started this. I now see where I get my determination and self control.
oh-live-y-uh asked: Where in WV are you from? My parents are from Nitro and Saint Albans
I'm feeling quite overwhelmed
By the 400+ messages in my inbox. That’s daunting. Especially since I just got caught up on 500+ messages, then I opened my ask box again and it was like it was instantly full. And I don’t know what to do, because I hate having my ask box closed. I feel so out of touch with all of you, and honestly I feel kind of selfish to not take questions. But it’s an issue, because I simply...
highheartbeats-deactivated20111 asked: i've read that you suggest to take rest days but i really really love running. its one of the only things that relaxes me and it puts me in a good mood to start my day off with a good run. is it extremely bad for my body to not take a day off?

My most recent ab routine...
…Is actually not a routine at all, which is the whole point of it. Your body gets used to routines, and they lose their effectiveness. Which is why my impatience and short attention span have led me to a near six pack. So I’ve decided to embrace the fact that I can’t stick to one routine for more than a couple of weeks. I came up with a new system, which I think is pretty clever,...

popularfiction asked: Hiya! I just wanted to know your thoughts about my Treadmill. I believe it goes up to about 15 miles an hour...? & it has a lovely meter that supposedly tells you how many calories you're burning when you run... do you think its accurate? I'm not sure, but I'm seeing progress every week & I'm a calorie counter for now... just wanted to know what you think :)

Why is you boyfriend in Israel ? Does it have something to do with religion ?
Besides that have you ever been to Europe ? If, yes where ? And except this hotel in Switzerland, is there a country that makes you curious in Europe ?

Today's agenda:
Eat a snack.
Bake cupcakes.
Do air alert and an ab workout.
Eat lunch.
Take a shower.
Ice cupcakes.
Eat dinner.
Bible study.
I have 6 hours to get all of these things done. Hopefully I can make it happen. Seems reasonable.
dragonflies-- asked: What are the best exercises you would recommend to tone the thighs and buttocks? Preferably something other than lunges and squats.
Best. Breakfast. Ever.
1/2 cup rolled oats (about 1 cup cooked) with 1 tbsp wheat germ cooked into it, 1/4 cup blueberries and a bit of sugar free maple syrup added once it’s done, and eaten with 6 tbsps scrambled egg whites.
My love affair with oatmeal continues.
